The Samsung Galaxy J series of phones has enjoyed quite a bit of success in the Indian sub-continent since it first made its debut. After a few iterations, the company has revisited the design again, and time offers two new variants in the J series that are supposedly meant for the new social media-centric generation, with the introduction of the Galaxy J7 Pro and the Galaxy J7 Max.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro
The two phones will feature 13MP snappers on the front and back with LED flashes accompanying each of the sensors. The front camera has an aperture of f/1.9 and the back has an aperture of f/1.7. Going by the social networking theme that the two phones are being promoted for, the newest feature will be the Social Camera app that is meant to make editing and taking photos and sharing them across social media platforms an instant affair. Users will be able to pin favorite contacts and apps from a slider to the camera and they can directly share the images they take to their respective contacts. The camera will also feature some unique AR filters as seen on Snapchat and Facebook apart from stickers and other traditional effects.
Another new feature that will be coming newly to Indian shores is the Samsung Pay, which will be the standard app in the J7 Pro as has been seen on other Samsung offerings in the country. The J7 Max will instead come with the Pay Mini, which will make its debut here. Both phones will use these apps to support India’s Unifiied Payments Interface and will be able to store credit cards and debit cards. In order to secure transactions, Samsung has also added better assurance with a fingerprint scanner for protection.
The J7 Pro and the J7 Max will both feature uni-body metal designs. The differences between the phones are on the inside and on the screen. The J7 Pro has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen and is powered by an Exynos 7870 chipset – an octa-core CPU – with the Mali-T830 and 3GB of RAM along with 64GB storage. The Galaxy J7 Max is bigger, with a screen size of 5.7-inches but is an LCD display. On the inside is a MediaTekHelio P20 chipset – also an octa-core – with the Mali-T880. The J7 Pro will feature a 3,600mAh battery, and the J7 Max will be powered by a 3,300mAh one. Both phones will come with Android Nougat out of the box.
Reports state the two phones will be launched in India first, sometime mid-July and the J7 Pro will cost about $330, while the J7 Max will cost $280. The phones are also going to feature some of Samsung’s classic features for the country, such as ultra-data saving mode, S bike mode and S Power Planning.
