Close to two months after the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) was launched in Russia, Samsung has decided to make it official in India, one of its key markets where it has a considerable market share.
The upgrades to last year’s A5 and A7, the latest offers dust and water resistance and has an aluminium body and glossy glass that gives its a premium look, almost resembling the popular Galaxy S7.
Definitely an irresistible choice for those looking for a decent midranger, the A5 and A7 was first announced at the CES 2017. Pre-orders for the devices has now begun in India and will be available across the country starting March 15.
Specs and Features
In terms of specs, the Galaxy A5 (2017) packs a 5.2-inch FHD (1080p) Super AMOLED display and has a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture on the front and rear. The device is powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (expandable via microSD card).
There is also a fingerprint scanner and 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging support. The operating system is the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
To the bigger variant, the A7 (2017) offers a 5.7-inch FHD (1080p) Super AMOLED display, a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (expandable via microSD card). The camera is the same 16MP camera with f/1.9 aperture on the front and back. Power is drawn by a larger 3,600 mAh battery.
Both the A-series smartphones support dual-SIM, 4G, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC.
You have two color choices – Black Sky and Gold Sand. As for price, the A5 (2017) is priced at Rs 28,990 ($434), while the A7 (2017) will sell at Rs 33,490 ($501).
