Rumors continue on screen size of new iPad that will launch in 2017

The iPad has always been one of Apple’s most successful devices of late. The company might be making a couple of hit and misses with the iPhones, but the iPads are going strong. The reports for the upcoming iPads are out and the rumours are strong with these ones.

What to Expect

Everyone’s favourite Apple analyst who seems to be brimming with leaks about Apple’s unreleased products – Ming-Chi Kuo, has tipped a lot of reviewers like Digitimes who had put together a report back in August where it said that Apple will be making a 10.5-inch iPad for 2017, with the production starting this December. It’ll bridge the gap between the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The reasoning for Apple to create a size like this, would be that 10-inch tablets are popular in the education and enterprise sectors. The iPads will pack an A10X processor, similar to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple is confident that they can sell 2 million of these iPads by the first quarter of 2017 and up to 6 million by the end of the year. According to an article by BGR, their source (we’re guessing it’s still Kuo) suggest that there will also be an upcoming 9.7-inch iPad to compete with Android tablets, which means it’ll be cheaper than the regular iPads, but we’re not sure performance-wise, how they’ll compare to the Android counterparts.

More changes such as OLED display panels are also expected to arrive on the iPads by 2018. It’ll be more efficient on the batteries and also have the colours pop-out, but as far as production and supplying goes, we hope they pick Samsung.

Although the difference between a 9.7-inch and 10.5-inch iPad isn’t much, because the size is almost the same, we’re a little confused as to why Apple would make a decision to add the new model. Perhaps Apple will make those 9.7-inches a little cheaper for the Android competition and leave all the hardworking and power-packed processing to a more capable 10.5-inch iPad, and more expensive too.

The iPad minis haven’t received any rumour loving yet. And neither Apple nor Kuo have stated anything regarding what to expect of the mini iPads. They have been the more popular and cheaper choice for consumers, so hopefully Apple has something in plan for the range as well. At 7.9-inches, it’s a great size and still make the tablet a compact device for any and all users.

One thing that we haven’t come across is rumours of omitting the headphone jack. Let’s keep it that way, shall we, Apple?
