Samsung is sparing no means in order to make the most of their findings from the Note 7 fiasco. After bursting batteries and continuous stringent safety checks and tests, the company has now come out with a solution to put together a program to recommission the thousands of un-sold Galaxy Note 7s that were recalled, in order to breed new life into the devices.
According to reports, Samsung have been discussing internally, the possibilities of bringing back the Note 7 to the masses in the form of a refurbished handset, with the battery components obviously being much safer than last time, thanks to their unyielding efforts in ensuring that no more incidents happen again. The company is thinking of having a program that sold these refurbished models in developing countries like Taiwan and India as well as other countries who are willing to regulate the use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 once again.
Samsung has not revealed yet, how it will go about doing this, but the tech giant is reportedly considering alternative methods as well should the Note 7s not be sold again. Engadget has found out that Samsung could also extract important modules from the handset such as the camera module, semiconductors as well as other precious metals such as copper, nickel, gold and silver before the rest of the device can be processed for recycling. The company is making sure it goes through the proper procedures of not being wasteful, and rightly so, since many of the materials that will go unused in these phones can be put into better use on future devices.
After having the Note 7s removed from shelves in less than two months since the launch, Samsung is looking to reclaim themselves from the disaster of a flagship product and turn over a new leaf. The phone’s dismal failure was one of the biggest tech-related failures to occur in recent history, as the almost $900 phones posed a security threat, causing danger to human life as well.
It is about time that the company did something like this to redeem itself since it has learned from its mistakes and the Note 7 can hold up its own even in 2017 quite easily. The specs and the functionality make the device one of the best that the company has been able to churn out in recent years. Despite its unfortunate fate, the Note 7 could still impress, if the public gave it the chance. Even if it came back in the guise of a refurbished handset, the company will have to invest in a completely different marketing campaign this time around to attract new audiences to its product line.
A good reason to opt for the Note 7 this time around would be, that since it is refurbished, the company will likely be selling the phones at a smaller retail price than the last time, making it a lot more attractive and under the radar for those who want a pricey looking phone with a more modest budget.
