Razer had last week confirmed to press that its Project Valerie prototypes were stolen at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Now the company is offering a reward of $25,000 for any information that could lead to the case being solved.
The company has apparently filed reports with the authorities and is now working with CES management and law enforcement in an attempt to retrieve its stolen prototypes.
“This note is to confirm that two Razer Project Valerie laptop prototypes were stolen from the Razer booth at CES. The product was taken from the Razer press room at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017,” a press note stated.
Project Valerie is a portable gaming laptop that features three 17.3-inch 4K IGZO displays with a 11,520 x 2,160 resolution. The VR-ready system is powered by a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card and comes with Nvidia G-Sync and Nvidia Surround View native support.
“A US$25,000 (AU$34,000) reward is being offered for original information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a criminal suspect. Razer may pay only a portion of the maximum reward offered,” said Razer. “The decision will be based primarily upon law enforcement’s evaluation of the value of the information provided. When there are multiple claimants, the reward will be shared in amounts determined by Razer.”
Project Valerie’s design is identical to the Razer Blade Pro, which has two extra displays that can be opened on either side of the main screen. The laptop further features Razer’s signature Chroma lighting effects on the keyboard and under the two side monitors.
Since Project Valerie is still just a concept device, there’s no word on when it will hit the market.
