By early 2017, your smartphone could be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processors that assure high-end performance and lighting-fast speeds.
On Tuesday, Qualcomm announced the 400 and 600-tier processors that back advanced modem capabilities and features an increase in CPU and GPU performance.
The new Snapdragon 653, Snapdragon 626 and Snapdragon 427 will support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology, which can power up devices 4x faster than traditional methods. The models will also support dual camera for crisp and clear photos.
“It has always been Qualcomm Technologies’ strategy to introduce industry-leading features first at the premium Snapdragon 800 tier design point, and then scale these features into our other Snapdragon products,” said Alex Katouzian, senior vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies. “A great example of this strategy is the use of dual camera for capturing high quality photos that now range across our portfolio, including our 400 series mobile solution.”
The new chipsets can increase network capacity by supporting X9 LTE, LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation, 64-QAM and Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) codec on VoLTE calls.
The Snapdragon 626 in fact features Qualcomm TruSignal antenna boost, designed to improve signal reception in congested areas. And the Snapdragon 427 will be first chipset to bring TruSignal to the Snapdragon 400 tier of processors.
Qualcomm said the new processors will be commercially available by the end of 2016.
