PlayStation’s Platinum Wireless Headset will go on sale starting January 12

A new PlayStation wireless headset is launching next month. The Platinum Wireless Headset will be made official on January 12 for a price of $160.

The Platinum is equipped with 3D audio tech and even supports 7.1 virtual surround sound. At the launch of the headset, Naughty Dog will launch a patch for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End that makes use of the game’s 3D audio to offer immersive experiences.

Sony will also be supporting 3D sound across other games, including MLB The Show 17, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Days Gone.

“Hidden noise-cancelling microphones provide crisp, clear communication without the need for a boom mic,” said Steve Schwartz, produce marketing manager for Sony. “The headset combines superior construction and design offering style, durability and maximum comfort – especially for long gaming sessions.”

Platinum will be compatible with PlayStation VR and mobile devices using the included 3.5mm audio cable.
