Here is how to play a game as you chat on Facebook

Facebook has launched a new feature that allows users to play games in the News Feed or through Messenger. The Instant Games is a HTML5 based platform and will first roll out to 30 countries.

Available on latest iOS and Android operating systems, Instant Games allows users to play games right in between their messaging conversations. Open a conversation with a friend, and you can see a game controller icon just below where you type your message.

Users can choose from the list of games and can even see their score or challenge back their friends. The launch games include Pac-Man, Galaga, Arkanoid, Space Invaders, Brick Pop, Hex, Everwing, Endless Lake, 2020 Connect, Puzzle Bobble, Zookeeper and Shuffle Cats Mini.

Facebook says its 1 billion user community can also discover games within the Messenger search field or on Facebook News Feed where they can play solo or challenge friends. All the games feature score-based leaderboards, in-context chat, and group thread conversations.

To keep its community engaged and active is what folks at Facebook constantly strive for. The social network giant wants to leave no stone unturned to retain its large user base.

Just a while back, Facebook introduced the Instant Video feature to Messenger, for users to view and share a video feed with friends while they chat. While the platform already has a video chat, the Instant Video works differently by sending text messages as you video call.

The video will pop up in a small movable window as you chat. Facebook said it hopes Instant Video will make video calls “as easy as sending a sticker or emoji.”
