Oppo, the Chinese electronics firm, has launched a new selfie-focused phone for consumers in India. The A57 will be available starting February 3 on leading e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon India.
Being a ‘selfie phone’, the A57 comes equipped with a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 13MP camera on back with aperture f/2.2 and PDAF. Weighing 147 grams, the phone is powered by a 2,900 mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device is available in Rose Gold and Gold color versions.
The A57 was first launched in China last November. During the India launch, the Oppo VP and Managing Director of International Mobile Business, Sky Li, revealed that the A57 was proposed following the response of F1s, another selfie-focused phone.
The upgraded variant of F1s launched in India November last year, the same time the A57 was unveiled. It had a 5.5-inch 1080p display and MediaTek MT6750 processor.
While the original version that launched in August had 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, the upgraded version came with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. In terms of camera, there was a 13MP rear camera and 16MP front camera. The F1s was priced at Rs 18,990 ($275).
