The OnePlus 5 is almost nearing its release date and the internet is sparing no little update regarding the device that it can catch on to. This time around, one of the CEOs has also hinted about the new product in development.

As was already stated before, the company will be skipping the model number ‘4’, and will instead go directly to ‘5’, citing that the number four is indicative of bad luck. Fans and the public alike, should be expecting the arrival of the handset no later than the second half of this year to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 8 as well, since it has set the genre defining “flagship killer” segment. Much like its predecessors, we are expecting nothing short of the flagship specs that everyone has grown accustomed to with the company.

Further hyping the release of the phone, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had re-shared something on China’s popular Twitter-like platform – Weibo from OnePlus’s official account on the social networking platform. The tweet in question was one shared by the company, which stated that the company is hard at work “just to make a big surprise.” OnePlus is working without a break in order to bring out its latest creation, and the tweet got its approval from Lau himself, with a phrase of encouragement, saying “Carry on,” while both tweets consisted of the hashtag #NeverSettle.

There is much evidence regarding the oncoming release date of the new OnePlus smartphone. Several leaked images of the handset’s camera samples have been found and it can be confirmed that it was from the OnePlus 5, by EXIF data of the images. Even the model number mentioned in it was of the OnePlus 5’s being A5000. Some claimed, that by looking at the photos, the new OnePlus flagship might actually come with dual-sensor rear cameras. It is a known fact that the EXIF data can be faked, however, so this information should be shared with a grain of salt.

Based on TechnoBuffalo’s speculation, the next OnePlus 5 smartphone could come with a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 3,000mAh battery, but some also suspect the battery capacity to be a little higher, and 6GB of RAM. Reports are also making rounds that the OnePlus 5 will be featuring a dual-lens 23MP camera at the back. But we’ll just have to wait until the phone’s imminent arrival to confirm these specs. Summer is almost here and OnePlus will be sure to bring the heat to the competition.
