Apple today officially announced the launch date of the much hyped Apple Watch Nike+. The smartwatch, featuring Nike’s bands and unique faces inspired by Nike’s iconic style, will hit store shelves on October 28. It is designed for fitness freaks, with useful apps such as Activity Rings, Heart Rate, Stopwatch and Weather.
Besides the popular features of Apple Watch Series 2, the smartwatch is accompanied by the new Nike+ Run Club app that offers daily motivation and even connects users with like-minded runners.
“Running is one of the world’s most popular activities for staying in shape and being healthy, and with Apple Watch Nike+, runners will be even more motivated to achieve their performance goals,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “The response so far has been incredible and we’re thrilled to get Apple Watch Nike+ onto customers’ wrists starting Friday.”
Apple Watch Nike+ features a built-in GPS to track your pace, distance and route. The water resistant wearable will be available in two different aluminum case sizes – 38 mm and 42 mm. The base model will sell at $369, while the 42 mm version could retail at $399. Nike Sport Bands are available exclusively with Apple Watch Nike+ models and are not sold separately.
Besides the U.S. and the UK, the smartwatch will go on sale on Friday in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan, to name a few. Purchases can be made online or at any Apple and Nike retail store.
