Now, TP-Link introduces a $299 mesh router system called the Deco M5

It was Google that first debuted a mesh router in October, last year. Within months we saw Netgear release its very own Orbi mesh-router system. Linksys followed suit with the Velop that delivers high-speed data covering an entire home. And now T-Link has just joined the race introducing the Deco M5.

TP-Link on Wednesday announced the availability of Deco M5 Whole-Home Wi-Fi System. It can be purchased from leading retailers in store or online for $299. Deco M5 provides reliable Wi-Fi coverage for the entire home and includes comprehensive security via TP-Link HomeCare.

“Today’s consumers want wireless connectivity across their home, from the living room to the bedroom to the kitchen. Deco M5 creates seamless Wi-Fi that allows them to stream, game and browse the internet in any room,” said Lewis Wu, executive vice president of TP-Link USA Corp.

He noted that Deco M5 automatically optimizes Wi-Fi connections for every device and comes equipped with TP-Link HomeCare, which allows consumers to customize their network security through powerful features that include robust parental controls.

Deco M5 utilizes TP-Link’s Adaptive Routing Technology (ART) to ensure the network is always operating at top speeds. It identifies and selects the fastest path to connect to the network.

Deco M5 also optimizes connections between devices to deliver the best in coverage. Users can further control how the bandwidth is used and prioritize devices for heavy-bandwidth tasks such as HD video streaming, online gaming or video chats.

The mesh router system is powered by a quad-core processor and deploys the latest mesh technology. The dual-band AC1300 system is capable of speeds of 400 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 867Mbps on the 5GHz band, and it supports MU-MIMO data streaming. Up to ten Deco M5 units can be added to a single network.

A key highlight of the Deco M5 is the line-up of built-in security features. TP-Link HomeCare provides antivirus and malware protection, powered by Trend Micro. Users also enjoy SPI firewall, device access control and secure remote control of the network via the TP-Link Deco mobile app. Through the Android or iOS app, TP-Link says users can easily set up whole-home Wi-Fi coverage in just minutes.
