Nokia 6 is official: HMD Global’s first Android device features Nougat OS, Snapdragon 430 chip

Finally, Nokia has a new Android smartphone. On Sunday, the parent company HMD Global introduced the Nokia 6 with latest Android Nougat operating system.

Nokia 6 was made official through a listing on the website. It features a 1920×1080 FullHD Gorilla Glass 2.5D screen measuring 5.5 inches.

This is the first Android-based smartphone after the successful Nokia Lumia range of phones that was a budget Windows smartphone.

Powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset, Nokia 6 is equipped with a 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of on-board storage alongside microSD support.

Other highlights include a 16MP primary camera, 8MP selfie shooter, Dolby Atmos powered dual amplifier speakers and a 3,000 mAh battery.

Before you get excited, the Nokia 6 will only go on sale in China. The device will sell through online giant JD.com.

“China is the largest and most competitive smartphone market in the world. It is no coincidence that we have chosen to bring our first Android device to China with a long-term partner,” said Nestor Xu, Vice President Greater China, HMD Global.

The Nokia 6 will cost CNY 1699 ($245) when it goes on sale. There is no word on the price and availability of Nokia 6 in other markets.
