HMD Global, the Finnish company that owns the rights to use Nokia’s brand on smartphones and tablets, earlier filed a design patent for a phone which very much resembles the Nokia 6 that was introduced in China last year.
Information available on the website shows the design number as “003472158-0001”. It also has the drawings of the front as well as the rear panel.
Nokia 6 though was initially a China exclusive phone, the success of the device in that country has led HMD Global to consider a global launch.
Recently, a Nokia 6 Arte Black Limited Edition phone with a glossy piano black finish as well was introduced. Its international variant will be introduced in different markets in the second quarter of the year.
While the Nokia 6 features a unibody aluminum frame, the Nokia 6 Arte Black features a crystal-finished rear panel with a piano-black gloss finish. The standard variant will cost €229 ($246), while the limited edition Arte Black is reported to carry a price tag of €299 ($321).
The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5 inch screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, paired with a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. In terms of battery it comes with a 3000 mAh battery. For pictures, it is packed with a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat without any personalization.
When it went on sale in China it was priced at CNY 1,600.
