Nintendo Switch is the latest console: Top features you just can’t miss

Nintendo has in three minutes, managed to drop jaws with its preview of its latest console, the Nintendo Switch. Previously termed Project NX by the company, it now shows itself to the world. Here’s the lowdown on what to expect from the new console.

More than just a console

The Switch is a bunch of different devices that can be interchanged within itself. It’s almost like a Transformer. There’s a special tablet mode that lets the user take it out of the Switch Dock and use it separately, like a portable game system. And there won’t even be any compromise on graphics. It’s a lot like the Wii U, but a lot better.

Not your regular joystick

There’s a joystick that is connected to the tablet that can act as the main joystick when used in console mode. The joystick can be removed from the tablet and attached together as a separate unit. Another highlight is that the joystick can be separated into two parts and each part can be used for a separate joystick for two-player gaming. It blows our minds why other consoles haven’t thought about this before.

The joysticks have been christened ‘Joy-Con’ by Nintendo and are perhaps the best design we’ve ever seen on joystick. Optionally, there will also be the option offered by Nintendo for a traditional joystick called the Pro Controller if they like to hit it old-school. The trailer preview shows off a variety of occasions where this will come to use.

Games

The trailer features many popular games and also some new ones. There obviously will be a lot of Nintendo exclusives like a new Mario game, a Legend of Zelda game and also some third-party titles like Skyrim. But we’re expecting other gaming companies like Square Enix, EA, Capcom, Ubisoft and a lot more others. It’ll be powered by a Tegra processor by NVIDIA that is built upon the same architecture as its high-end desktop-grade GPU counterparts, so we’re expecting the games to come out looking promising.

“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like,” Nintendo America President Reggie Fils-Aime said, adding “it gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries.”

Nintendo seems like they really want to make their consumers happy with this release. And we can expect them to deliver on that promise on March of next year. As always, Nintendo hasn’t failed to make an impressive entry among the sea of regular consoles that we see. It’s always different and always unique. We’re looking forward to what this console has to offer us when it finally comes out.
