With just little time to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Nikon is about to release another brand-new flagship camera that will serve as the successor to the massively popular D7200, based on a recent leak of the camera.
The Japanese company is preparing for a launch early next week, based on a rumor. Japanese site Nokishita, was the first to come out with the important, albeit low-resolution leak of the camera. But it should suffice for being the first official look of the camera. According to various leaks, the camera is touted to have a 20MP sensor, the same/or similar to the D500, an ISO range extending from 100-51000, 51 AF points, 8fps burst mode, SnapBridge wireless connectivity and 4K video as well.
Being the successor to the D7200, the new camera would be called the D7500 and not the D7300 as was first expected, perhaps because it borrows from the D500’s camera lens. It seems that Nikon is currently going into a phase of damage control, since the company’s stocks have lowered drastically over the past few months, owing to a little too much innovation that has not necessarily been fruitful in the past. Continuing on the success of the D500, Nikon will probably want to make another hit with the D7500 as well.
Effectively, it has been known for some time that the company has stopped production of its DL and KeyMission line of cameras, owing to a lack of popularity. The D7500 should return the company to its original routes, with popular features making a return such as tilt-screen and other features made popular by the D500 itself. The D7200 currently retails for $1000, so the D7500 should also cost a little more than that in terms of just the body.
It does not seem like Nikon is making any special effort to bring about the D7500 as it was not mentioned on previous collateral that the company had shared regarding its 100-year anniversary. It should then be expected to be released sooner, rather than later, along with the main event. Perhaps an anniversary edition of the camera could be expected? Considering no official word on the device has made its way to the web, the rumors will remain rumors until they are confirmed. But if there is a release happening, it will be within next week.
