Nikon releases new DSLR, D5600: Features & specs you should know

Nikon has upgraded its D5500 DSLR by adding SnapBridge and few other enhancements.

The D5600 is an entry-level DX-format digital SLR

The new D5600 is a mid-range DSLR with 3.2-inch LCD  touch input support. It is also equipped with 24MP APS-C image sensor and supports 1080p video recording, 5fps capture rate, time-lapse movie capture and a 39-point autofocus system.

SnapBridge being the highlight, the technology makes it easy to copy pictures from the camera to smart devices. Connectivity includes both WiFi and Bluetooth. Specs on the new DSLR is more or less the same as on D5500, with only difference being the SnapBridge which is also offered on select coolpix cameras.

Through a combination of Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology and a dedicated app, users can connect their camera to smart devices. The pictures are automatically transferred to the device and can even be uploaded effortlessly to cloud storage services.

The pictures can be appended to emails or shared directly on social media. You can even sync camera’s time and location info with smart device or embed copyright, text and logos. And for the fun part, you can use SnapBridge to control the camera and take photos remotely.

The D5500’s touch screen is further enhanced in the D5600

For more on D5600’s specs, the camera uses the same Expeed 4 processor that is on D5500. You get 5 frames per second continuous shooting. The Vari-angle LCD monitor supports touch shutter and pinch zoom. The touch Fn function will support the enabling and disabling of auto ISO sensitivity control.

A feature not found on D5500’s is the new crop tool and a frame-advance bar. There is also the time-lapse option, making it easy to set up an interval to take shots. Time-lapse movies recorded with the camera can also be transferred to a smart device via SnapBridge.

The Nikon D5600 will not be available in the U.S. at launch. Stay tuned to Gadgets Post as we bring you more updates.
