What the new Nubia smartphone renders reveal

The Sharp Aquos gave the people of the world dreams of having a phone that could be the future of bezel-less technology. But it wasn’t as powerful as we all expected it to be. Then earlier this year, Xiaomi did the same thing, with a bigger, more powerful, more bezel-less handset and now Nubia is wanting to get in on the action, showing us all that this is a sign of things to come.

New leaked reports suggest that Nubia smartphone will be featuring a bezel-less display.

But as of now, it’s only been rendered in concept. An online Chinese publication – MyDrivers, leaked some of Nubia’s renderings of a bezel-less display with a slide-out designed handset. The display is nearly 90% of the real estate on the front of the phone, being fully edge-to-edge.

The renders promise that this phone could be customized with swappable back-covers. The slide-out design would probably move down to reveal an earpiece and a front-facing camera with an LED flash behind as well. Luckily, what we do know from the renderings is that the phone will feature a headphone jack (which is nowadays an endangered component of a device) as well as a USB Type-C port. There’s a fingerprint scanner on the back as well and the power button and volume rockers on the right.

But the renders are only graphical and so might not really indicate the real-life look of the phone. Judging by the design language and quality of the renderings, it seems that Nubia wanted to go all-out and are probably considering putting out a product like this soon. Perhaps as soon as early 2017.

There isn’t any hint as to what is under the hood, but we’re expecting it to rock at-least a mid-tier Snapdragon chipset, but Nubia would really surprise everyone if they decided to make this a flagship-spec’d handset, like Xiaomi did with the Mi Mix.

Everything about bezel-less technology makes handsets even more desirable. Let’s hope Nubia have the right intentions with this phone and don’t crush our dreams when it hits the shelves.
