Moto G5 is an important phone in the Motorola lineup. The device is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress at the end of February. For those who cannot wait to get their hands on one, Motorola plans to bring the device to stores immediately after launch.
The latest we hear on the G5 is that the flagship device will go on sale in the UK after first week of March. The wait is not long considering how close we are to MWC.
It was Roland Quandt of Winfuture.de who tweeted the possible release, based on information from a UK retailer. “Motorola Moto G5 will be in retail shortly after MWC launch it seems – this coming from a UK retailer,” Roland tweeted on Tuesday.
We will have to take that with a grain of salt as there is still no official word on the availability.
Moto G and Moto G5 Plus – Specs & Details
Two devices are rumored to launch at the MWC in Barcelona. The Moto G5 and G5 Plus will be unveiled on February 26. The G5 will be a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (expandable up to 128GB).
The successor of G4, the upcoming device will further be equipped with a 13MP camera on the back and 5MP shooter on front. The battery will be of 2,800 mAh. It is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
G5 Plus meanwhile will be a bigger sibling with 5.5-inch full-HD display and Snapdragon 625 processor. It will also have beefier hardware, with RAM to be of 4GB while storage the same 32GB. For pictures, there will be 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
Moto G5 Plus could be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with TurboCharging support. A lot of these specs became public when the device passed the FCC test and was spotted on other benchmarking sites. Press renders have also revealed the design of the devices.
The budget phone appears to have a full metal unibody design, with close resemblance to the Moto Z form. If rumors are right, the Moto G5 Plus could also be water and dust resistant. In terms of cost, chances are the Moto G5 will be priced at around $250, while the Moto G5 Plus around $300.
