Moov Hoverboard coming to Kickstarter. Here’s all you need to know

The hoverboard will soon see a resurgence in popularity as Mark Cuban, noted billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner, will be offering his own iteration of the popular futuristic personal transportation vehicle with his company, Radical Transport.

Cuban wanted to create his own hoverboard way back in 2015 when the fad had just begun and almost was able to buy the right to create it, but instead passed it over to Razer. Now, Cuban finally has the means necessary to create the hoverboard, and using the platform of Kickstarter, he intends on creating some hype surrounding his product. Being a billionaire does not necessarily mean that he needs to pay for his products himself, so he is lowering his investment costs by asking the public for it instead. Perhaps it was something he picked up from Shark Tank?

Nevertheless, Cuban seems confident of his company’s progress, noting that it will be a very premium product that will be made entirely in the United States and will have few parts that will be imported. The name of the hoverboard will be called Moov and the company Radical Transport have already shot and published a video to show exactly what it is capable of doing. Cuban wanted to wait for the right time to jump back into the hoverboard game since the concept’s very inception and now just seemed like the best time for him.

The strategy that Cuban is trying to adopt here by gaining hype and investment into his new product seems to be a good idea. The hoverboard that he is advertising also has some features that are not on the regular run-of-the-mill variants that we are used to seeing. This one has a less plastic-y design, a handle slot on the middle of the board with bigger wheels. The way of operation is also a little more different than on regular hoverboards, with pressure points acting as a way of moving about on the hoverboard, located on the platform, according to The Verge’s report. These pressure sensors will replace the traditional method that involves tipping in front as well as tipping back for going forward or backward.

Cuban also stated that this hoverboard is meant for more advanced riders, meaning that only enthusiasts will probably get to enjoy the full scope of the vehicle. When it comes out, the Moov will have to contend with Razor and Swagatron for a piece of the market share. Will Cuban devour the competitors and come out of the tank alive? We’ll have to wait and see until it is officially released in April.
