The much-anticipated Meizu M6 has officially gone official, finally silencing the numerous rumors and speculations that have been making the rounds online. The budget offering from the company will be a promising one, as it offers decent specifications for the cost and looks premium.
The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 System-on-Chip, which is an octa-core 1.5GHz processor. The display on the front will be an HD panel, at 5.2-inches. The phone will also come in 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB configurations as well. There is also expandable storage available for users. These are respectable specifications that offer decent performance for an entry-level device.
Meizu M6 is a rebooted M5 with a few new improvements apart from the ones mentioned above. The new M6 will feature a newer, better camera this time around, coming in at a resolution of 8MP with an aperture of f/2.0. Last year’s M5 had a 5MP sensor. On the rear was a 13MP camera with an RGBW colour sensor.
The company has also supposedly worked on the camera modules with the imaging company ArcSoft to improve noise reduction and HDR capabilities. The phone will also feature a 3,070mAh with micro-USB connectivity. There is also a fingerprint scanner along with Flyme 6 OS, which is based on Android Nougat, out of the box. Not much else has changed apart from the camera compared to the M5. The phone will be available in four colours, which include Matte Black, Champagne Gold, Electric Light Blue and Moonlight Silver.
Reports stated the phone will be priced at an attractive $100 for the base model. Added to the above-mentioned list of specifications, the phone will also come with 2.5D curved glass, which makes it one of the best deals right now, for those who are looking for an inexpensive handset. For those who already have the M5 or a similarly spec’d device, upgrading might not make sense, but for those who are looking to find a cheap alternative phone or for those looking to enter the smartphone space, this is a decent buy.
Of course, the phone will not be able to out-do other budget handsets such as Motorola’s E series or Xiaomi’s Redmi series but it will do well to provide competition. The company will lead buyers to believe that the phone is made of metal, but in fact is made of polycarbonate. For the price, it is still worth an oversight.
