Meizu E2 will be China exclusive for now: Here are specs, features and price

A day after ZTE released a couple of phones in the US, another smartphone maker has come out with its own that is exclusively for the Chinese market. On Wednesday, Meizu announced the Meizu E2, with the pre-orders starting same day and going until April 29.

The Meizu E2 regularly popped up in the rumor mill, revealing much of the specs and its performance based on benchmarking sites. The E2 sports a 5.5-inch FullHD resolution and is powered by an octa core Helio P20 processor.

There will be two RAM and storage variants to choose from. The standard being the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, for those needing more power, there is 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

On the optics front, you get a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and Quad LED two-colour warm flash, while for selfies there will be an 8MP sensor on front. The device will weigh 165g and will be available in black, silver, and gold.

With a slightly curved edge, the device sports a new metal unibody design, with the power and the volume button placed at right and the fingerprint scanner integrated with the home button on front.

Among the key highlights is the battery which is of 3,400 mAh and supports 18W fast charging. Meizu claims it can charge phone up to 40 percent in 30 minutes.

Meizu E2 will support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 and a Micro-USB port. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Flyme OS 6.0 on top.

While pre-orders begin today, the sale of the device will start on April 29. The base model will sell at CNY 1,299 ($188) and the bigger version at CNY 1,599 ($232).
