In line with the trend, MediaTek has launched a new mobile chipset targeted at dual camera smartphones. The Helio P25 is the latest addition to the Helio P series family that in the past saw the successful P10 and P20.
The Helio P25 adopts 16nm Octa-core processing to offer up to 25% better power efficiency. In fact the Octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.5GHz, using less energy than its competitors.
But that is not what this chipset stands out for. It comes with an advanced Image Signal Processor (ISP) technology in the form of MediaTek Imagiq that offer premium quality imaging and high-end camera features. It brings advanced camera effects, including shallow depth-of-field and auto exposure to work with any lighting scenario.
“MediaTek Helio P25 paves the way for high-resolution and feature-rich smartphone cameras that enable amazing static shots and 4K2K videos,” Jeffrey Ju, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer at MediaTek, said in a statement.
Here are some highlights that will appease smartphone photographers. The Helio P25 can support up to 24MP single camera or 13MP+13MP dual camera; it is optimized for Color + Mono de-noise and real-time shallow DoF bokeh; will support video HDR with full preview; and boosted auto exposure.
MediaTek revealed that smartphones powered by its new Helio P25 will start appearing in the first quarter of 2017.
