Even as MacBook fans are eagerly waiting for Thursday’s event, a new leak has revealed a glimpse of the redesigned MacBook Pro.
The leak was discovered in a recent update to macOS Sierra, which included hidden Apple Pay images that showed the new MacBook Pro with an OLED touch panel.
While that confirms a new MacBook Pro, it also reveals major changes on the design, with an OLED touch panel located on top of the keyboard where the function keys would be placed, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
Otherwise, the MacBook Pro looks similar to past models. We are not sure about the specifications. You can expect the latest of Intel’s Skylake processor and a Retina display.
The highlight of the new MacBook Pro undoubtedly is the new touch panel, also known as “Magic Toolbar”. MacRumors, which was the first to report on the leak, noted that Touch ID is built into a nearly-invisible power button located next to the display.
It made other observations such as a redesigned hinge, suggesting a thinner MacBook Pro, and flatter keys. Also, Apple could do away with four USB-C ports and a headphone jack, with the HDMI port, MagSafe port, and SD card slot.
Apple’s ‘Hello Again’ event is scheduled to start at 10 am PT/1 pm ET on October 27. Besides MacBook Pro, Apple is rumored to release new iMacs and a fresh MacBook Air model.
