There is a new rugged smartphone from LG, targeting consumers in the US for now. On May 26, LG will unveil the mid-range X Venture that is not only water proof but also shatter-resistant.
The LG X Venture has military standard durability with the device having passed 14 different MIL-STD 810G tests designed for the US military. It also has IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Further, the X Venture sports a 5.2-inch LCD display (1080x1920p resolution) and is powered by a Snapdragon 435 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage.
For pictures, the device has a 16MP rear camera with flash and 5MP shooter on front with 120-degree wide-angle lens. It is armed with a 4,100 mAh battery that also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. LG claims the tech can charge the battery 50 percent within 48 minutes.
There is a dedicated QuickButton on the side for users to launch the LG Outdoor Essentials app, which can track calories, distance, steps and more. The QuickButton can also be customized to launch an application.
The 4G LTE phone will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Besides US, LG will also reportedly introduce the device in parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
