LG X500 launched in South Korea with massive 4,500 mAh battery

The LG G6 was a big hit when it was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in 2017. While that was a premium offering, for those budget conscious consumers, LG has just launched a mid range phone with an impressive battery.

South Korea became the first country to receive LG’s new X500, which is competitively priced at 319,000 won ($284). This Friday it will be up for purchase with three mobile carriers. There is no word yet on global availability or pricing.

In terms of specs, here is what the phone offers. You have a 5.5-inch HD display and 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP sensor on front for selfies. It is fitted with a 4,500 mAh battery that can be charged by 50% in just one hour.

There are speculations that the LG X500 is the Korean variant of the X Power2 that was unveiled during the MWC 2017. It had the same 4,500 mAh battery setup and camera sensors. If that holds true, then the X500 should also feature a Mediatek MT6750 processor and 2GB RAM.

As for storage, in X Power2, there was a 16GB in-built storage (expandable via microSD card). The X500 might include bigger storage at 32GB. It will also run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The X Power2 was launched first for the North American market, and will be followed by regions in Asia, Europe and Latin America. The pricing and availability will be announced in each market before release.

LG said the device was designed to “meet the demands of users who want maximum usage from their smartphones between charges and many of the advanced features found on our flagship devices”.
