LG V30 has been a long time coming, and being LG’s second coming into the flagship segment of 2017, it will look to do what its previous flagship – the G6 was not able to. The LG G6 was unable to match up to its more powerful and well-endowed rivals in the form of the HTC U11 and the Samsung Galaxy S8, but the phone’s launch gave buyers an idea of the kind of flagship-grade phones that they could come to expect this year. With the V30, LG will look to directly rival and perhaps even beat out the competition.
The V30 had been previously reported to be released on August 31. The company has now officially confirmed that the phone will indeed be released on that date as it has started sending out media invites to press officials for the event. The phone has been the subject of numerous leaks that have shown off the rear cameras of the phone as well as its suspected specifications. The launch of the V30 will be part of the IFA 2017 convention that will be held in Berlin at the Maritim Hotel.
GSM Arena’s analysis of the invite uncovers that the company has made it clear that the phone’s USP will be its camera. While earlier iterations of the phone have featured the secondary screen as being one of the defining characteristics of the phone, it seems that this time around, the company will be ditching the concept. In terms of internal specifications and features, the phone will be somewhat similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 in terms of the overall package. It is said to feature the Snapdragon 835 SoC, a QHD+ 6.0-inch FullVision OLED display with dual curved edges and RAM pegged at just 4GB.
The phone will also come with 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded and feature Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box It will also be IP68 water and dust resistant. This could be the first model in the V series that will have a sealed battery and cannot be removed. The battery compartment should feature a 3,200mAh as well, if the leaks are to be trusted. The display of the V30 is said to employ POLED panels that will be curved along the edges and come with an aspect ratio of 18:9, which has become the standard for flagships this year. The display will also be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.
Launch of the device is said to take place at 2PM and will highlight the phone’s dual-camera setup that will also come with dual-tone LED flash position to the sensor’s right side.
