LG launches V30 at IFA 2017: Here are the specs and features

As was expected, LG today unveiled the much-awaited V30 at the IFA 2017 tech show in Berlin. Not just the V30, it also introduced a larger variant dubbed the V30+.

The LG V30 reportedly will start shipping from September 21, first at its home country in South Korea. Soon there will be announcements on the global rollout. No pricing has yet been provided by the South Korean electronics giant.

In terms of specs, the LG V30 sports a 6-inch Quad HD+ display (2880 x 1440) with 18:9 aspect ratio. Like the predecessor V20, on the V30 you have a second always-on screen situated right above the main display.

Underneath the device, you have a top-end Snapdragon 830 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It further runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box.

Not to forget the storage capacity, users have the option of 64GB or 128GB storage and it is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

LG claims that V30 is the first global smartphone to support MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology that allows for the streaming of high-resolution audio. The V30 also boasts of a receiver that doubles as a microphone.

The device will be a treat for photography enthusiasts. The V30 has a dual-rear camera on the back that consists of a 16MP and 13MP sensors.

Features include f/1.9 aperture (for the primary sensor), optical image stabilisation, laser auto-focus, phase detection auto-focus. For selfies, there is a 5MP front facing camera too.

“With its F1.6 Crystal Clear Lens Camera and Cine Video mode, the LG V30 is designed to help create professional-looking content without professional-level complexity,” said said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

Other key details include the 3,300mAh battery and the availability of USB Type-C 2.0 for fast charging. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS.

Also, the premium device is water-and-dust resistant with IP68 certification and comes with fingerprint scanner at the back. Additionally, it features voice activation that allows users to lock the device and perform various actions.
