LG’s upcoming G6 has generated quite a buzz on the Internet. The premium device will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. While rumors on the hardware up until now have been a complete mixed bag, the latest is a little disheartening, given the processor that is expected to feature.

A new leaked image with the hardware specification has suggested that LG will be using Snapdragon 821 SoC instead of Snapdragon 835 that was rumored from the start. The latter is the most advanced, offering better performance and speed. However, as the same is being mass produced for Samsung Galaxy S8, it has left other smartphone makers no choice but to use last year’s Qualcomm processor.
Since the Note 7 fiasco last year, there is immense pressure on Samsung to make a comeback with the Galaxy S8. Meanwhile, besides LG, HTC and few other Android makers are reportedly sticking with Snapdragon 821 chips for their new devices.
The Snapdragon 835 comes with more than three billion ultra-efficient transistors and is 35 percent smaller than the previous model. It also uses 25 percent less power than its predecessor and supports Quick Charge 4.0, which Qualcomm says offers 20 percent faster charging.
If LG is adamant on using the latest Snapdragon processor, it would be practically impossible to have a launch by the month end and bring the model to retail stores by March.
The G6 is also expected to feature a new display aspect ratio of 18:9. To debut on February 26, the device will boast a 5.7-inch QHD+ LCD display and a dual camera setup on the back. To sport a water-resistant build, the G5 successor is also likely to have Google Assistant on board.
