Lenovo is about to release an update to its Tab3 8 tablet – a budget oriented tablet that costs just $100. The new iteration will be called the Tab3 8 Plus and will come with some updated specs, according to reports.
The update first surfaced last year in September, thanks to a leak which revealed that a new tablet was in the works. Now a sighting on the popular benchmarking tool Geekbench has revealed the specs of the new tablet. It is expected to feature a Snapdragon 625 CPU with Android Marshmallow right out the box.
The budget offering from Lenovo will also feature a full HD display with options of a 32GB or 64GB internal storage. It has a rear-facing 8MP camera and a front facing 5MP camera. According to Android Headlines, the octa-core CPU will run at an impressive 2.02GHz and is built using the 14nm process size. Memory capacity of the tablet is topped out at 3GB of RAM.
Luckily, we will be able to have the luxury of added storage space, thanks to an SD card slot. All of this will be backed up by an ample 4,250mAh battery. These specs are a much better offering compared to the last iteration of the Tab3 8, which had a MediaTek processor. It is commendable to see Lenovo upping their game with much more reliable internals.
The model number of the tablet has been listed as TB-8703F on Geekbench. According to its scores on the benchmarking tool, the tablet scored 935 on single-core performance and 4667 on multi-core performance. These are pretty good scores that will easily pass off as a very capable mid-range offering. Lenovo has not yet spoken about the pricing or the availability of the tablet yet, but it will be quite the contender for a budget tablet.
Unlike other offerings that boast of being friendly on the pocket, it looks like the Tab3 8 will be the most anticipated of the lot. Now only if they could price it somewhere below the $200 mark.
