Leica M10 camera will be unveiled on January 18?

Leica has a new camera on the way. Reports earlier mentioned a M camera that the company has been working on. It was to be announced at the Photokina 2016, but that didn’t happen. The latest is that Leica is prepping for a January release.

Leica M9 was the last in the M series, released in 2009.

The upcoming camera dubbed as M10 is expected to be released on January 18, 2017. Leica has sent out media invites for an event to take place on that day, as reported by Leica Rumors.

If this should come as a surprise, the last M series camera was released by Leica in 2009. The M9 was the world’s first digital rangefinder camera with a full-format 24 x 36 mm sensor.

An 18-megapixel image sensor that featured a glass sensor cover enabled capture of the full 35-mm film format. And the full metal housing was made from high-strength magnesium alloy. There were two color variants – black and grey.

Now towards M10, rumors state the camera will carry a 24-megapixel sensor providing an ISO range of 50,000 ISO. Leica could have released the camera before the holidays, but photography enthusiasts will have to wait for one more month.
