After releasing its own line-up of televisions, the LeEco franchise has taken the next step in media streaming by releasing its every own TV Box.
Smartphones, Cars and even Smart TVs. LeEco are playing their best cards forward to the world and it’s been successful so far. The latest in its long line-up of products is the very conveniently priced $80 ultra-thin TV box that’s being dubbed the LeTV U4 TV Box. The specs are pretty impressive too.
It weighs only 157 grams and is one of the most portable and thinnest Android TV boxes available on the market right now. The box is powered by a 2.0GHz Amlogic S905 quad-core processor with a Mali-450 GPU. It’s also got 2GB of RAM and has storage capacities of 8GB and 16GB respectively depending on the model. Apart from that it’s got the generic dual-band Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth 4.1 onboard.
This little guy can produce an impressive 4K picture output and can play almost any audio and video format out there. It’ll run Marshmallow out of the box with LeEco’s custom UI skin atop it – the EUI 5.9. It’s a reminder of the UI we’re used to seeing on their smart TVs.
For now, the box is available only in China until further notice. The company hasn’t confirmed whether it’ll be available worldwide.
The company has been an instant success the moment it launched in Asia, providing cheap and reliable for the mass consumer and also for the quality-conscious. They’ve been funded very heavily by some big names in the industry, and the fruits of those investments are now showing for them. These aren’t any impressive specs for the price that it’s being offered in, but the U4 TV Box does offer some great features and an even more impressive design to back its offering.
We should expect the company to release a variant for the world market soon and take on the likes of existing players like Roku and other major TV boxes. Maybe the company will even have the box built-in to its Smart TVs too.
