Motorola is expected to soon unveil the Moto G5 and Moto Z. Both devices have been fodder for rumor mills.
On the Moto Z, the latest rumor follows a patent application filed by Motorola. Apparently, the application is pertaining an iris scanner. According to Tech Droider, the patent for Moto Z lineup showcases a device with fingerprint sensor that also is able to scan irises.
The patent filing only confirms that Motorola could equip its second gen of Moto Z devices with the iris technology. Just recently, a Moto handset bearing model number XT1650 was spotted on Geekbench.
The XT1650 is speculated to be the Moto Z (2017). The listing reveals a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. It will also run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.
And yes, Motorola did earlier reveal that the second generation Moto Z lineup as well will be equipped with modular functionality. So just like the previous versions that had Moto Mods to be attached, you can expect Mods like the JBL SoundBoost Speaker and Hasselbad True Zoom Camera to launch alongside.
Besides the Moto Z (2017), there is also one more device that should excite mobile enthusiasts. The Moto G5 will be a budget phone and will sport a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 10180-pixel resolution.
It might feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617 and have 2 to 3GB of RAM. The storage should be a 16GB/32GB expandable to 128GB. Just recently the Moto G5 Plus leaked on a benchmarking site.
Posted on CPU-Z, the Moto G5 Plus showed a 5.5-inch full-HD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The Moto G5 Plus will also come with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed.
If reports are to be believed, the Moto G5 should launch around February or March.
