The iPhone 8’s latest renders show off unique AMOLED features

Apple is living it quite dangerously of late, especially since the company has now detached itself from its long-time GPU supplier Imagination Technologies and making its own GPU solution for the biggest release the company will yet make – the Anniversary edition iPhone 8. There is a lot riding on the release and the success of the phone. However, recent renders of the phone show that the company might have something substantial for the fans to look forward to.

iDropNews has shared its latest set of renders for the iPhone 8

A few images now have resembled renders of the iPhone in question. The renders were meant to provide an idea as to how the phone will look, based on the speculation made around it so far. Since the phone is touted to be using OLED screens this time around, the edge-to-edge form is being quite heavily anticipated. This means that the phone’s front will be a complete slab of grass with a functional area on the bottom-most part of the screen, featuring the embedded fingerprint sensor and quick-access shortcuts to the music player and so on.

This means that the phone will make good use of the screen real-estate, and although the company has not confirmed whether it will be the case, rumors indicate that native applications will be better optimized to suit the functional area of the screen, to provide added controls – something like the Touch Bar, perhaps. The key area of interest in the renderings are focused mostly on what the functional area of the front of the phone will be composed of, considering it was highly speculated by notable KGI analysts.

According to Business Insider, the iPhone 8 should come with a 5.8-inch screen and that the traditional usage of the screen will be limited to only 5.15 of those inches, while the remainder of the screen real-estate will be reserve for the functional area, as was shown in the renderings created by iDropNews. In the meantime, there is also the matter with the company’s dispute with Qualcomm over the patent law-suits, which has now escalated so far, that Apple may not be able to sell the iPhone in the US.

Since Apple uses a lot of patents made by Qualcomm in their devices, Apple needs to pay Qualcomm in royalties for using their patents. However, it had come to light that Qualcomm’s asking price was much more than Apple wanted to give, and so the latter had cut off payments to Qualcomm early in the year, starting the lawsuit. Now, Qualcomm is requesting the International Trade Commission to ban the iPhone in the US as the company has been using its patents without now paying the royalties. For Apple fans, this could be a moment of reality to consider that the possibility of the most awaited iPhone being banned could happen.

But at least they still have their renders.
