Huawei Y3 upgraded with slightly bigger screen

The Huawei Y3 II was launched last April alongside the Y5 II. A year later, the Shenzhen-based smartphone maker has brought a successor in the form of Huawei Y3 2017. It’s a simple upgrade with average features.

The entry level phone comes with a 5.0-inch FWVGA (854x480p) resolution. When the predecessor was launched, it sported a 4.5-inch screen size. So Huawei has decided to bring a bigger screen on this one.

As for other specifics, you have quad-core MT6737T chipset along with Mali T720 GPU. It is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card).

The device further sports an 8MP primary camera with LED flash and 2MP camera on front for selfies. It supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS/AGPS/Glonass. Y3 2017 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 skin. For power, the device comes equipped with a 2,200 mAh battery.

Shoppers can pick from Blue, Gray, Gold, Pink and White color options. The pricing as well as availability is yet to be made public. Soon, it should be made visible on the company’s website.

Huawei’s new upgrade comes just a month after it brought the Y5 2017. It had a 5-inch HD display (720x1280p) and was powered by a MT6737T quad-core CPU processor. The operating system as well as the primary camera remains the same as Y3. However, for selfies, Huawei has fitted the device with a 5MP front camera. The battery as well is bigger at 3,000 mAh.
