Huawei Honor 9 launched: Know specs, features and price

Huawei’s Honor 9 has been right on schedule. The launch took place today as was expected. The specs are also in line with the recent leaks.

The Honor 9 was launched in the company’s home country China with powerful hardware that won’t break the bank for sure. The device will feature on leading e-tailers like Vmall, JD, among others, starting June 16.

On Honor 9, you have a 5.15-inch 1080p display and a Kirin 960 chipset that will be paired with 6GB of RAM. The storage options will include 64GB and 128GB (both expandable up to 256GB via microSD card)

Connectivity options include a dual-SIM slot, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, FM, 3G and 4G. The smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 skin on top. Power will be drawn by a decent 3,200 mAh battery.

To the USP of the device, Honor 9 packs a dual camera setup on the rear. You have 12MP + 20MP sensors that support 2x optical zoom, portrait and bokeh modes. And for those selfies, Huawei has fitted a 8MP sensor on front as well.

Also, for those who love mobile payment, Honor 9 will support Huawei Pay, the company’s own mobile payment platform that was launched alongside the phone.

Honor 9 will will be available in Grey, Blue and Amber Gold colors. The standard 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,700 ($400) and 128GB variant at CNY 3,000 ($440).

Another Huawei device that was recently launched and is just entering key markets is the Huawei P10. The flagship device packs a 5.1-inch 1080pLCD display and is powered by the Kirin 960 chipset.

It features a 4GB of RAM and sells in 32GB or 64GB storage variants. There is a 20MP + 12MP dual camera setup on the back and 8MP selfie camera on the front as well. Though close on specs, the Honor 9 has an upper edge in terms of RAM, battery and design.
