HTC’s U11 Plus and U11 Life leaked ahead of expected release

The upcoming HTC U11 Plus has been leaked in a video that was uploaded on Facebook recently, which leaves little to the imagination. The video shows what the phone will officially look like, what is powering the phone and its special features as well. The video also confirms a few rumours that were speculated upon. The U11 Life has also been leaked, courtesy of T-Mobile, who has provided the entire spec sheet on their website.

According to a report from Engadget, the hands-on video of the U11 Plus shows that the phone will be available in a translucent colour option, along with black and silver. The translucent colour option was also confirmed by Evan Blasse in his tweet. While the video has been taken down, there are still copies available online. Based on the video, the phone will have a 6-inch display, 4,000mAh battery unit and 128GB of internal storage. The phone might also be capable of wireless-charging, upon further investigation under the shell.

The phone will be water and dust resistant and also feature Edge-Sense, enabling the same squeeze functionality of the previous U11 onto its other variants. The phone will also likely come with Android Oreo out of the box and will cost close to $850. This price point suggests a hefty amount of power under the hood, and we can expect the Snapdragon 835 processor on-board to keep things running.

Android Police has also unearthed leaks regarding the new U11 Life, which is said to come with a Snapdragon 660 processor, with a 5.2-inch 1080p display. The phone was rumoured to be an Android One phone, but instead, shows that the phone will come with Android 7.1 Nougat with HTC’s Sense skin. Interestingly, HTC is dropping the headphone jack this time around as well and we will be seeing USB Type-C earbuds in the box as well. The phone was scheduled for a November 2 release, but T-Mobile seems to have jumped the gun on the phone’s details.

The phone, based on the specifications by T-Mobile, will come with HTC’s own Sense Companion AI, along with Alexa. There will also be Google Assistant on-board as well. On the optics side of things, the phone will sport a 16MP rear camera while the front of the phone will feature another 16MP sensor. The mid-range handset will look to take on the Moto G5 Plus and the Moto X4. The phone will have noticeable bezels on the top and bottom with a home button that will also double as a fingerprint sensor as well.
