HTC is planning on ending the year with a bang, considering that the smartphone maker has already released numerous phones including a flagship handset this year already, it does not seem like the company will be stopping there, with three more releases set to happen by the end of the year.
The company did announce earlier in the year that 2017 would see the launch of no more than 6-7 phones this year. The last three phones are scheduled to be released with the codenames Ocean Master, Ocean Harmony and Ocean Lite. Of course, HTC will be following an aquatic name scheme, as it had done with its previous smartphones this year as well. The codenames to hint at the kind of the phone that HTC will be presenting to us in the coming months.
Information regarding the new phones’ codenames comes from a popular member of the HTC community on Twitter who goes by the name Corn Chen. Some reports speculate that the Ocean Life or the U11 Life, could be sold under the Android One program, similar to the Xiaomi Mi A1, but that is still pending confirmation. Based on the report, the Ocean Master is said to feature a 6-inch display with either 4GB or 6GB RAM configurations or both, with 64GB or 128GB internal storage configurations to boot. On the rear, the phone will come with a 12MP camera, which will be borrowed by the U11 and the selfie unit will be the 8MP unit. Based on these specifications alone, it seems that HTC will be launching its third flagship smartphone for the year.
Ocean Harmony will also feature a 6-inch screen along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Ocean Lite will come with a 5.2-inch screen, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. By these specifications, it seems that these two phones will most likely be mid-range offerings. Speculations suggest that the phones will be released some time in December of 2017, but the dates may vary, considering that this acquired information is based off rumors.
HTC has had an eventful year, while not dabbling too much in the dual-camera space as much as other flagships have. Hopefully, one or more of the new entrants arriving later this year may feature dual-lens camera modules.
