The Honor 9 was just recently approved by TENAA a few days ago and already we have an official date for when the phone will be available for purchase, with an announcement by the company. The new Honor 9 features improved internals and camera from its predecessor, the Honor 8 but will retain the similar design approach.
It is no surprise that the announcement was already leaked in the form of a poster before the official announcement. There will be a special event in Shanghai to mark the release of the phone and a showcase of its various features. The poster speaks of the phone as being beautiful and colorful, pointing out the rich array of colors that the phone is capable of producing. The poster also indicates that the event will be hosted by Honor at the Shanghai International Conference Centre. The two biggest changes that the Honor 9 will feature from its predecessor is the omission of the headphone jack and the addition of the dual-camera setup on the back.
Reports suggest that the phone will fall under the $300 price tag for the base model and will go up from there as the variants increase. Honor will also be showcasing a new EMUI skin to accompany Android Nougat. Everyone’s eyes, however, will be on the phone’s dual-camera set up which supports 12MP + 20MP sensors, which will allow to add depth and bokeh effects. On the front of the phone will lie an 8MP camera. At the kind of price that Honor could be selling these phones, the offering is quite tempting. It would be interesting to see if Honor will also offer specialized accessories such as wireless headphones within the box or even offer a dongle for the micro USB 2.0 port, which is rather a let-down, considering USB Type-C is the new norm.
