Huawei’s Honor has been keeping a fairly low profile lately, not having any news of their latest flagship surface. Now, we have an official date leaked of the arrival of the company’s next phone, the Honor 9, released by tipster Roland Quandt.
Honor to launch its new flagship smartphone on June 27
According to Phone Arena, Quandt uploaded an image which was supposed to be the official press invite of the phone, with the copy saying, “Save the Date” with further details explaining a June 27 release of the Honor 9, supposedly. While the phone hasn’t been directly mentioned in the poster, it can be hinted that there will be a major unveiling happening on that date, with the venue suggested to be Berlin. Honor has been dubbing the phone to be a “light catcher” as mentioned in the poster and this has fans suspecting that the phone will probably come with a dual-lens rear camera – one 20MP and the other being a 12MP.
Another report suggests that the phone will be priced somewhere around the $360 mark and that the phone will supposedly get rid of the headphone jack. It has also been reported that the fingerprint sensor will now be found on the home button on the phone instead of at the rear. The phone is said to feature the Kirin 960 processor with a 32/64GB and 4GB configuration. The Honor 9 will also be sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p panel. While the phone’s battery is expected to be at 3,000mAh, water resistance may be one feature that is a possibility.
The phone will feature UFS 2.0 storage as well as the likelihood of a variant with 6GB of RAM. It is, however, almost certain that the phone will feature Android Nougat out of the box and along with Honor’s new EMUI skin atop the OS. Seeing as the “light-catcher” moniker is being associated with the phone, we can also expect the Honor 9 to perform well in low-light capacities as well.
Some argue, that the phone will be a rebranded Huawei P10, considering that the specifications and the design of the two phones seem near-identical. But then again, it would seem unlikely for Honor to go through the trials of having an entire event hosted in Berlin for the big reveal. Until the phone is eventually launched, however, all of the above mentioned details should be taken with a pinch of salt.
