Huawei’s subsidiary branch Honor, is about to release an impressive mid-range offering, which has just been leaked, based on a recent listing by the TENAA. The newest reports are offering speculation and insights into the rumours of the company’s upcoming Honor 7X handset – a successor to the previously successful 6X.
The listing from TENAA reports that the phone will come with a 6-inch display, while retaining the same footprint as the Honor 6X. Honor will be using a newer design language this time around that will revolve around a display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. So, not only will the phone have a bigger display in the same footprint as the 6X, it will also be narrower than its predecessor.
Every time a company in China releases a phone, it must first go through the TENAA in China for regulatory purposes and certification, where it will list the phone in its database along with its features and specifications.
The phone is labelled “Huawei BND-AL10” and has also been spotted on the smartphone benchmarking platform GeekBench. The company has officially confirmed that the phone will arrive on October 11. Based on the results of the GeekBench test, the handset scores a multi-core score of 3159 and a single-core score of 909, which places the phone in the mid-range segment, much like the new BlackBerry Motion.
Based on the GeekBench testing, the phone will come with Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box, with EMUI 5.1 layered on top. The phone will feature the Honor’s home-made eight-core Kirin 659 system-on-chip clocked at 1.71 GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. The handset will also come with a dual-camera setup at the back.
The dual-lens setup will consist of a 16MP main camera, with 2MP secondary camera to aid in depth focus. The front facing camera is an 8MP snapper. The internal storage of the phone will be topped at 64GB with expandable storage and a battery capacity of 3,240mAh. The phone will be released first in China and will gradually branch out to neighbouring countries soon after. The phone’s base price will be set at $270 while the powerful 4GB variant of the handset will cost $315.
Honor’s promise of value-centric handsets will continue with the 7X, as it will be one of the few sub $400 phones to come with dual-cameras and a narrower, 18:9 aspect ratio display.
