Guess what Google has to offer now. Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat is now officially out of the beta build, and the public release will start rolling out to Nexus devices worldwide.
The update is being launched out over-the-air (OTA), and should reach all users gradually. This, by far, is the sweetest release yet from Google with more ways to make Android your own.
Android Nougat reflects inputs from thousands of fans and developers around the world. There are over 250 major features in Android Nougat, including VR Mode in Android.
To enjoy the cutting edge next generation technology from Google, the device has to be compatible. Implying, devices should be either a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C tablet, or General Mobile 4G.
Next step is to, sign up for the Android Beta Program using the same Google account on the device of the choice. Then, select the handset or tablet that shall be enrolled, accept the terms, and click Join Beta.
With Android Nougat, Google is promising seamless updates on eligible devices. The manufacturers HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony have already committed a list of devices which will be getting the Android 7 update. In fact, LG V20 which launched on September 6 will be the first smart phone to launch with Nougat out of the box.
Talking about supported devices, the new update this time excludes two older devices from Google’s Nexus line up, the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7.
However, Google has plans to support those two devices by means of security patches, although it isn’t clear as for how long the company will extend support.
Noticeably, for those upgrading from Android 6.0 to 7.0, there are a lot of changes. There’s multi-windows display, a built-in files manager, you can even block numbers at the system level. Switching between two apps has become easier. All one has to do is double tap the recent application button.
The provision for quick settings reportedly shall give easy access to Bluetooth, WiFi and the all-important flashlight. With Android Nougat, one can actually control what tiles go where, and move them around to fit one’s need.
