Google’s new messaging app Allo will reportedly be launched in the next two days.
If reputable tipster Evan Blass is to be believed, Google is preparing for a September 21 release, not delaying any further.
Allo was announced together with video app Duo during Google’s annual I/O conference in May.
Though Duo was released last month, Google had kept the other for a later launch.
Duo is a one-to-one video calling app that comes with a simple interface, faster network and cross-platform support. The app is available for download on Google Play store.
Duo only requires a person’s phone number to connect. This is not Google’s first attempt on video calling. It has been offering same through Hangouts since 2013. However, with Duo, it comes as a standalone applicatin than integrated with any popular platforms.
As for Allo, it is a lighter messaging app with built in ‘Smart Reply’, Google Assistant, language pattern recognition and incognito mode for private conversations. Google has a pre-registration for the app on the Play store. Pre-registered users will receive a notification when the app is released.
Soon we will know how the new applications will rack up against other popular video calling options, including Apple’s FaceTime, Microsoft’s Skype and Facebook’s Messenger.
