Gionee will be unveiling a new smartphone this month – November 26 to be precise, and China will be the location of the launch event. It has been revealed that the company will be unravelling a new bezel-less smartphone along with a few other devices at the event at the event.
The phone’s screen size will be a large 6.43-inches – bigger than the M7’s which was launched in September – and is expected to pack the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which will replace the MediaTek Helio P30, which was originally planned for the device. The listing on the benchmarking tool also revealed that the phone will come with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The display will come in at a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. It will also feature Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box with Gionee’s custom UI layered over it. Hopefully, the company has made software improvements to take advantage of the Nougat’s features and will also introduce the new Android Oreo OS in the coming weeks post-launch, in the form of an update.
Reports also state the phone will come with on-screen buttons and the rear of the phone will feature 16 and 8-megapixel cameras. Speculations also indicate that the phone will feature a rather large battery pack to power the phone, considering the high resolution and screen size that it offers. Hopefully, we will be able to see a 4,000mAh battery pack built-in. Considering it is aimed at being a mid-range offering, the features and specifications are some of the best in the segment and if priced appropriately, the phone could be the best mid-ranger of the year as well.
For more information on the phone, the main launch event will provide that on November 26. The phone’s listing has also made its way to GFXBench as well, however the details for its results have not yet been revealed.
