The suspense is over. Samsung Galaxy S8 will sell in India at a price of Rs 57,900 ($896). On Wednesday, Samsung launched the flagships Galaxy S8 and S8+ in the country. The latter will carry a price tag of Rs 64,900 ($1004).
While pre-orders for the S8 lineup begins today, the device will start shipping starting May 5. Flipkart is the exclusive online partner. Buyers will have five colors to choose from – Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold.
For those who dint follow the recent news, here are the specs to expect. The Galaxy S8 is a 5.4-inch display (2960×1440) phone with curved Super AMOLED screen. Thanks to the ultra-wide display, the device sports an aspect ratio of 18:5:9 instead of 16:9. The fingerprint sensor is on the back and users will also not find the Home button on the front.
The hardware in Galaxy S8 includes a 2.3GHz octa-core Exynos 8895 processor, Mali-G71 MP20 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. To the optics front, you have 12MP Dual Pixel rear cameras with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.7 aperture.
For selfies, there is an 8MP front cameras with autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS. Galaxy S8 packs a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging support.
On the bigger Galaxy S8+, you have similar specs, but the display is a 6.2-inch screen and the battery is beefier at 3,500 mAh. The dual-SIM phones run Android Nougat-based TouchWiz UI.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are successors to last year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
