Samsung was to give Apple a run for their money by bringing a similar camera set up as seen on iPhone 8. Last week, reports stated Galaxy S8 will have dual cameras, with 12MP and 13MP sensors.

A Weibo leakster now says Samsung has no plans to add the dual camera lens and will stick to a single camera module like on S7. We are not sure whether it is a credible news.

For now there is no official announcement on the same except Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s recent statement that the Galaxy S8 would feature an “improved camera”.

The premium smartphone could be unveiled at the MWC 2017 that kicks off on February 27, 2017. The device is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. The S8 could arrive in two variants – one a 5.5-inch version and other being of 6.2-inch screen.

As is expected, Samsung will want to give the iPhone a neck-to-neck fight in its upcoming launch. Apple had introduced the iPhone 7 Plus with a dual-camera setup in September this year. Since then rumors began that Samsung would also follow suit.

A number of smartphones have already employed the dual-camera setup in their devices. The Huawei P9 for instance launched with a two 12MP cameras. The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus also has a dual 13MP camera system.

With the S8 launch round the corner, let us hope Samsung will not disappoint like the Note 7 debacle which not only hit sales but also put the reputation of the company at stakes.
