Samsung India today launched the new Galaxy On NXT Android smartphone. The device is part of the On series, last being the Galaxy On8.
Galaxy On NXT features a 5.5-inch display Full HD display and 2.5D Gorilla Glass. It is powered by 1.6 GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, expandable up to 256GB.
The device will be sold exclusively on Flipkart for a price of Rs 18,940 ($283).
On the connectivity front, On NXT supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready), in line with Samsung’s recent announcement that all its upcoming devices will be 4G capable. This even includes the entry-level segment. The On Nxt also supports GPS, Glonass, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.
For photo enthusiasts, On NXT has a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP front camera. The phone is backed by a 3300 mAh Li-ion battery.
Besides the average features, the phone does not appear to be a winner. It has close resemblance to Galaxy J7 Prime, which sells at Rs 18,790 ($281). The J7 Prime as well has an all-metal unibody design, 5.5-inch display, 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clubbed with 3GB RAM. However, the internal storage is lower at 16GB. And ditto as On NXT, the device sports a 13M rear camera and 8MP shooter in the front.
Interestingly, Samsung’s newest device comes just a month after it unveiled the Galaxy On8. The On8 has more or less same features as On Nxt. But if price is a concern, the On8 is a real steal at Rs 15,900 ($237). Otherwise, it is the same on the inside, with a different packaging.
