The successor to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7, the Note 8 is coming any time and latest rumors suggest it is being codenamed ‘Baikal’.

Several rumors have already been flying on the features, the latest being the new digital AI assistant. Coming close on the heels is this leak on the codename through a Twitter user.
The user UniverseIce posted an image of a frozen lake along with the company’s S-Pen. Baikal is said to be the deepest lake in the world, situated in the Russian province of Siberia.
The picture on the leaked image appears to represent the lake, but remember these are just speculations. We are not also sure about the authenticity of the claim. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of these new emerging details.
According to sources, Samsung will release its new Galaxy Note 8 this coming fall. The device has been pushed back to accommodate the release of Galaxy S8.
The phablet though will carry some of the key aspects from its predecessor, will come with innovative features such as a inclusion of virtual reality (VR), a dual-lens camera and higher-resolution 4K screen.
It will further include Android Nougat, TouchWiz, and a new Siri like AI assistant called Bixby. The next iteration would also see a better S-Pen stylus and is expected to have an IP68 certification just like its predecessor.
Under the hood, you might see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 840 processor alongside a massive 6GB or 8GB of RAM. A concept video earlier showed the device to have a edge-to-edge screen with the display to be of 5.7-inch, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
A lot of effort will be given to the device’s safety and reliability, understandably to prevent the Note 7 debacle. Samsung blamed the batteries inside the phablet for the Note 7 battery explosions, forcing the company to discontinue the phones two months after it launched.
As for release, there are probabilities of Note 8 being showcased at the IFA 2017 tech show in late August or early September.
