Fitbit never stops moving forward. After being established as clearly the best fitness band maker, the company has launched another great product called the Alta HR. Similar to its offering from last year, the Alta HR now presents itself with a highly-requested feature – heart-rate tracking. Here are 6 features that will make this product a best-seller.
1) Heart Rate tracking
The biggest feature of the device, the optical heart-tracking now allows users to check their heart-rate any time thanks to the always-on function of the tracker. It is such a big component in the Alta that it is even now part of the name. The company had to design a completely new chip from scratch to fit in the same frame of the Alta HR for this and it worked quite well.
2) Battery
Apart from the heart-rate tracking the Alta has improved in battery life from last year’s offering, now offering up to seven days of battery-life. The company is particularly proud of this feat as it did take a considerable amount of engineering to increase the battery capacity from five days, which the previous model offered, to seven days as is with the upgrade.
3) Sleep tracking
The Alta now comes with a more functional and powerful sleep tracking tool set. There is a new feature called Sleep Stages that breaks down the user’s light, sleep and REM sleep. This way, the companion app will be able to measure exactly how much quality sleep that the user is getting when they sleep.
Sleep insights is another new feature that explains to the user how their daily activity will affect their sleep patterns, which is also a very useful feature to have since it provides for better productivity and management of work
4) The Body
Overall, the body is about 25 percent slimmer than Fitbit’s Charge 2. It does look uncannily similar to its predecessor with no real physical change to show for it. It’s only when the band is turned over that the heart-rate tracker exposes the new improvements of the device. It has added the heart rate monitor without needing to increase the size, which is pretty impressive.
5) Customizable
The band now has seven new colours and also features leather as an option, making this one of the more stylish options in the market right now. The many straps on offer will give users another reason to pick one of these bands up, without needing to worry about where they’re headed. It’s a slim tracker, and should fit well with any wardrobe style to boot.
6) Pricing
The Alta HR will come in special edition colours – Rose Gold as well as Gunmetal. Those will cost about $180. The replaceable bands will start at $30 and go all the way up to $60. There are even metal clasps available for as high as $100. The normal base variant will cost just at about $150.
