Features that make Apple Watch 2 Series a tough, outstanding wearable

Apple fans had more than one reason to celebrate Wednesday. With the iPhone 7’s unveiling was the next generation of Apple Watch.

Apple Watch 2, as it is called, is “swimproof” and comes equipped with GPS. Built on the latest watch OS3, Apple Watch 2 makes it easier to access third-party apps, receive and respond to notifications and conveniently use Apple Pay.

Starting at $369, the wearable has 50 percent faster dual-core processor and a chip with double the graphics performance.

“With a powerful new dual-core processor, water resistance 50 meters and built-in GPS, Apple Watch Series 2 is packed with features to help our customers live a healthy life,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer.

Apple Watch 2 has a built-in GPS and records precise distance, pace and speed for outdoor workouts. The device uses Wi-Fi, GPS and locally stored satellite data to identify the user’s location. For swimmers, Apple Watch 2 series can count laps, track average lap pace and even auto-detect stroke type,

Apple Watch 2 comes in two series. Series 1 is available in lightweight aluminum and is equipped with the new powerful dual-core processor and GPU. Series 2 has aluminium or steel cases and can be paired with a wide variety of new band colors. Apple is even collaborating with Hermes and Nike for some breathtaking band designs.

With regard to display, Apple says the wearable is the brightest display the company has ever shipped. The Apple Watch 2 series is two times brighter,  – at 1,000 nits.

Apple Watch 2 Series 1 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space gray aluminum cases. And Series 2 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space gray aluminum, or silver or space black. For premium users, there is the Apple Watch Edition that comes in ceramic, pearl-like finish and with all features of Apple Watch 2 series.

Series One starts at $269, while Series 2 in a special Nike-branded version features for $369.

Customers will be able to order the Apple-branded watches beginning September 16.
